Divine Advent & Quest for Truth

India is essentially a land of religion. Whenever religious values decline, the Supreme Divine appears in human form to guide mankind. Srimat Swami Nigamananda Saraswati Paramahansadev took birth in the village of Kutabpur (then undivided Bengal, now Bangladesh) on the auspicious Jhulan Purnima night in 1880 AD.

Following the bereavement of his beloved wife Sudhangshubala Devi, an intense yearning for truth awoke in his heart. Leaving behind worldly prospects, he embarked upon an extraordinary spiritual quest that took him across the length and breadth of India.

He achieved the rare feat of reaching perfection in all four ancient paths of Indian spirituality:

  • 🔥 Tantra: Under Sri Sri Bamakhepa at Tarapith, attaining the direct vision of Mother Tara.
  • ⚡ Gyana (Advaita Vedanta): Initiated into Sannyas by Swami Satchidananda Saraswati, entering Nirvikalpa Samadhi.
  • 🧘 Yoga: Perfecting Hatha and Raja Yoga under Rishi Sumeru Das in the Himalayas and Assam.
  • 🌸 Prema Bhakti: Attaining ecstatic divine love (Bhav Samadhi) at the holy land of Vrindavan.

The Registered Trust Deed (1337 B.S.)

Srimat Swami Nigamananda Paramhansadev made a Trust Deed to administer Assam Bangiya Saraswat Math and the Ashrams (branches) under this Math on 15th Agrahayan 1337 B.S. and revealed it at the Sarbabhouma Bhakta Sammilani held at Purbabangla Saraswat Ashram. He appointed five ascetics, five householders, and the worshiper of Sri Sri Gurudham—in total eleven persons as Trustees. By virtue of the Trust Deed, the Mohanta is the President of the Trust Board, directly administering the Math-ashram.
